Stuart was born in Bath and has lived around the city for most of his life. Initially a programmer with the UK Atomic Energy Authority, joining the Civil Service led to the chance to train as an auditor for the Ministry of Health where he spent six years as an external auditor of the NHS across the south and south west of England.
A 3-year secondment as Chief Internal Auditor for the Urban Council and Urban Services Department of the Hong Kong Government preceded a return to external audit of the NHS as team manager. Promotion to audit manager with responsibility both for the NHS and Local Government District Council Audits followed, with responsibility for the external audit of Town and Parish Councils. Stuart set up Auditing Solutions Ltd in 2003 as an independently owned internal audit service to local councils.
Stuart is president of the Bath Tennis Club, and has represented Avon county tennis at veterans level. He has two grown-up children and he and his wife live on the outskirts of Bath itself. |
