Alistair is a CIPFA qualified Accountant with over 40 years experience of Local Government and the National Health Service including a period as Director of Finance of Wiltshire Family Health Services Authority. He took early retirement from the NHS in 1999 and has since run a consultancy contracting with NHS and Local Authorities on project and interim management assignments.

He is married with 3 grown up children and 5 grandchildren and lives in Trowbridge. He is a club representative on the Dorset & Wilts Rugby Football Union Executive and has performed many committee roles at Trowbridge RFC, where he played, and had a prominent role in forming its junior section in the 1990s. He also refereed for 25 years with the Somerset Society and is now an advisor.
